Green Skills Accelerator in Culture

The Green Skills Accelerator promotes the transition of the cultural and creative sector (CCS) towards environmentally neutral operations. The project focuses on practical solutions and tools that enable effective sustainable practices in the sector, particularly by reducing negative environmental impacts.

Motovila, the project leader, will combine its expertise with Umanotera, an organization focused on sustainable development, environmental justice, and human rights. Umanotera strives to raise awareness and actively engage the public in tackling environmental challenges. To support CCS in transitioning to sustainable practices, the project focuses on three key areas:

  • Development of tools for measuring carbon footprints,
  • training and consulting,
  • dissemination of best practices.

Project partners: Motovila (project leader), Umanotera
Duration: November 1, 2024 – August 31, 2026

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture through the Climate Change Fund.

The Green Skills Accelerator for CCS contributes to greater energy literacy, improved sustainable practices within CCS, and broader awareness of the challenges and opportunities of implementing the green transition in culture. Through the project, CCS will gain concrete documents to support applicants for various Creative Europe calls.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness within CCS and among the wider professional community about the challenges and opportunities of the green transition in culture. Additionally, the project involves developing tools for planning environmentally sustainable practices, including a carbon footprint calculator tailored to the cultural sector. It also includes designing a sustainability strategy and action plan for CCS organizations, with concrete measures to reduce CO2 emissions. Various activities will be implemented within the project to contribute to achieving the goals of the green transition.

In collaboration with Umanotera and other partners, a training program for sustainable development in CCS will also be conducted. This program will enhance stakeholders’ competencies in addressing environmental challenges and adopting green practices. Organizations will be able to develop their own environmental sustainability strategies and action plans, incorporating specific measures to reduce CO2 emissions.
