The EU launched an open call for tenders for the development of an EU carbon emissions calculator for the audiovisual sector, with the objective to standardise the measurements across borders. Participation in this call for tenders is open on equal terms to all natural and legal persons coming within the scope of the Treaties, as well as to international organisations. This action is funded by Creative Europe MEDIA programme.
The deadline is 18 July 2023.

The EU calculator will be particularly useful for:
- Producers of films and TV series;
- Audiovisual sustainability officers / crew members in charge of CO2 measurement;
- Film funds, in particular for European co-productions.
The tool will consist of a common approach and a web application, free of charge for users in all Member states, for the calculation of the CO2 impact of audiovisual works. The presentation and retrieval of the data shall follow a user-centric approach.
