{"id":18483,"date":"2023-09-08T09:35:41","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T07:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/motovila.si\/?p=18483"},"modified":"2023-09-08T09:35:41","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T07:35:41","slug":"what-about-a-slow-mobility-manifesto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/motovila.si\/en\/what-about-a-slow-mobility-manifesto\/","title":{"rendered":"What about a (SLOW) MOBILITY MANIFESTO?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>At the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/motovila.si\/en\/mobilnost-za-ustvarjalnost-kljucna-je-odgovornost\/\">#Mobility4Creativity 2019 two-day Conference<\/a>, <b>Jana Wilcoxen, <\/b>conference rapporteur, reflects how can we be more aware of what we are doing and the impact that our choices make on the society and environment as well as our own personal health and well-being. In 2023, this topic is important more then ever.<\/h6>\n<p>As (creative) humans, we don\u2019t really like either\/or situations. Dr. Lu\u010dka Kajfe\u017e Bogataj\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/motovila.si\/en\/so-just-how-dirty-is-your-journey\/\">talk at the conference<\/a> sent many of us into a tailspin of sorts when she said, \u201cMobility is great, but \u2026\u201d and then listed all the dangers and impacts of our travels on the environment, our health and the health of other inhabitants of the planet. We were crying to ourselves: \u201cBut we can\u2019t just stay at home!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next day, we heard more about the artistic issues that can arise with mobility \u2013 issues of copy\/paste, generic programmes, the lack of understanding about the role of the artist participating in them and their needs while participating in residencies or exchange programmes from the experiences of an artist and a curator. We also heard about the social-political issues of who travels, why and to where, as well as for what purpose and varying opinions about how to measure the results. It\u2019s clear that if we are forced into an either\/or position, none of us feel very free in that decision or in our actions, as if we must give up mobility completely or feel guilty about our mobility activities or that we must once again subject the arts and artists to be the mediators of social change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How can we be more aware of what we are doing and the impact that our choices make on the society and environment as well as our own personal health and well-being?
